Cover designed for overseas weddings

A destination wedding is more than a holiday. It can involve travel, guests, suppliers, venues, attire, rings, photography and carefully planned arrangements.

When a wedding is held overseas, unexpected disruption can affect both your travel plans and the wedding itself. Destination Wedding optional cover is designed to provide selected benefits for eligible wedding-related events.

Whether you are planning an intimate ceremony, a resort wedding, a family celebration or a larger overseas event, it is important to consider the financial and practical risks before you travel.

Who it may suit

Couples planning to get married overseas
Travellers with prepaid wedding services or venue costs
Couples travelling with wedding attire, rings or gifts
People wanting selected cover for wedding-related disruption

What Destination Wedding cover may include

Depending on the policy, selected cover may be available for certain destination wedding related events.

Wedding cancellation and rearrangement costs in covered circumstances
Wedding attire, wedding rings and attire hire
Insolvency of wedding services providers, where covered
Photography and video recording costs in selected circumstances
Wedding gifts, flowers, cake, transport, documents and counselling benefits

What it is not

Destination Wedding optional cover is not a guarantee that every wedding cost, supplier issue, change of mind or disappointment will be covered.

It does not remove the need to plan carefully, use written supplier contracts, understand local legal requirements and keep evidence of payments, bookings and arrangements.

You should read the PDS and the applicable Destination Wedding SPDS carefully before deciding whether this cover is right for you.

Why standard travel insurance may not be enough

Standard travel insurance is generally focused on travel-related events. A destination wedding can create additional wedding-specific risks.

Your wedding may involve deposits, venue costs, contracted suppliers, attire, rings, transport, flowers, cake, photography and documents that sit outside ordinary holiday costs.

That is why Destination Wedding optional cover needs to be selected if you want cover for eligible wedding-related events under the extension.

Before arranging your overseas wedding

Check local marriage requirements and required documents
Use written contracts with venues and wedding service providers
Keep receipts, invoices and proof of payments
Allow enough time for travel, documents and supplier arrangements
Read the PDS and Destination Wedding SPDS before you buy
